Design Justice is a vision for design practices that are led by marginalized communities and that aim to explicitly challenge, rather than reproduce, structural inequalities. It is a growing community of practice that focuses on the equitable distribution of design’s benefits and burdens; meaningful participation in design decisions; and recognition of community-based, indigenous, & diasporic design traditions, knowledge, and practices. It has emerged from a growing community of designers in various fields who work closely with social movements and community-based organisations around the world.
