With nodes across the globe, the Design Justice Network is an international community of people and organizations who are committed to rethinking design processes so that they center people who are too often marginalized by design. During this interactive session, we will unpack and interact with the 10 principles of Design Justice during a collaborative activity using web-based tools. Join the conversation in Ohio, the idea being to form a local node in Ohio in the near future!

  • As an Assistant Professor in the Department of Design at The Ohio State University, William Nickley researches social design practice and teaches courses in the industrial design major. He is currently studying how emerging technology and design can increase youth capacity to engage with social issues facing their communities in order to better understand how design can empower youth to advocate for and enact positive, lasting, social change. William is an industrial designer with a decade of experience in a variety of settings. He is a co-founding board member and active leader of Local Tech Heroes, a nonprofit centering underserved populations within social design in the central Ohio region

  • Since 2010 Victoria built a deep and varied web design portfolio that brings together the cultures of design and coding in the service of social justice. Since 2014, she has been a part of the Design Justice Network, which rethinks design processes, centers people who are normally marginalized by design, and uses collaborative, creative practices to address the deepest challenges our communities face.
