Registration for the Design Justice Network Care Pod’s first gathering is now open!
Over the past few months, DJN’s Care Pod has formed to begin the process of collaboratively dreaming and designing liberatory cultures of care within this network of design justice practitioners, and beyond. Rooting in our care lineages and dreams, we’re inviting you to join us on May 20th as we unearth the ways we'll gather and practice as a new communal space through the next two years.
During this gathering, we will:
Introduce the Care Pod, our guiding questions, and our beginning visions.
Identify where our dreams for care and healing justice live in our bodies, our hearts, and our lineages with the support of our guest somatic practitioner, Karishma Kripalani.
Surface those collective dreams for care and healing justice through a facilitated, creative activity.
Share our hopes and our needs for a new iteration of Care Circles and Practice Spaces, as well as some exciting announcements for DJN Local Nodes and Working Groups!
The gathering will include the following access supports:
ASL interpretation
Auto-captioning via Zoom
Recording, with options for asynchronous participation
Visual descriptions by speakers
Emotional Support people available during the gathering
Tech support
Multiple scheduled breaks throughout the three hours
Show up as you are: feel free to take additional breaks, have camera on or off, move around your space, etc.
These experiences are virtual, free and open to people practicing (or curious about) Design Justice and Design Justice Principles. DJN membership is not required to attend.
Each gathering offered is grounded in our network's commitment to dreaming and designing liberatory cultures of care, and co-organized by Denise Shanté Brown (Care Pod Lead), Corina Fadel (Care Pod Collaborator), and Jody Chan (Care Pod Collaborator).
