Dear DJN Signatories,

June 1, 2026: Design Justice Network (DJN) is excited to announce a partnership with A Blade of Grass (ABoG) to offer 20 grants totaling $15,000 USD to twenty (20) members of the Design Justice Network community! ABoG collaborates with artist-run organizations and artist collectives like Design Justice Network to expand the reach of their work to support socially engaged artists and practitioners. This is a private opportunity open to all Design Justice Network Principles Signatories. Grants are unrestricted and are meant to support you and/or your practice.

The application opens today (on June 1st) and will close on June 30th at 11:59 pm eastern time (ET).

There will be two tracks for the grant application process:

  1. For Design Justice Network Principles signatories living within the U.S.

  2. For Design Justice Network Principles signatories living outside of the U.S.

In an effort to acknowledge the higher access to funding in the U.S. compared to those living outside of the U.S., to disrupt the greater attention that U.S. based projects receive, and to provide equity based on international fees and taxes, we are providing a higher grant amount to people applying from outside of the U.S.

We are offering $1,000 USD grants to ten (10) signatories living outside of the U.S., and $500 USD grants to ten (10) signatories living within the U.S.

The application process is brief, as we hope to encourage as many people as possible who are already practicing Design Justice to apply for these funds. The selection process will be administered by ABoG utilizing a random number generator. All applications have the same chances of being selected. This stems from a mutual aid framework, and more information about ABoG general granting process can be found here: https://www.abladeofgrass.org/field-funds. We encourage folks to follow ABoG as they run micro-grant cycles for US based creatives throughout the year.
