October 2021, Design Justice Newsletter
Dear DJN Members, Signatories, and Friends,
Thank you for continuing to read our newsletter- we are so grateful to this community! The Communications Working Group is looking for members' insights on current needs and hopes when it comes to cultivating an online community. Survey Here.
Last month, the DJN Steering Committee and Staff took a week of pause - these pauses have helped us and the network, reflect on our work, create space to give and receive care, and offer time for rest. We hope these network pauses are helpful in your own work and life, and if you have any reflections you’d like to share, we would love to hear from you! We also held our bi-monthly Welcome to DJN session - and you can watch the recording here. In October, we held our third Care Circle for 2021 with Crystal Teng - DJN members received a body mapping offering - what an amazing and inspiring way to enter the fall season.
Finally, we are gearing up to launch the Mission, Vision and Intentions for the Design Justice Network - stay tuned for an upcoming launch! Please continue to read this newsletter for updates on upcoming DJN events, paid and volunteer opportunities, and other DJN related initiatives. See more below and thanks for reading!
- Taylor Simone and Victoria Barnett, DJN International Network Coordinators, and the DJN Communications team!

DJN Facilitators Connect + Nodes & Working Group Updates
Facilitators Connect Meeting - November 4: Node & Working Group Facilitators Connect Meeting (12:30pm ET, GMT-04)
As the Design Justice Network continues to expand, in order to be in better communication with our nodes and working groups around the world, we are shifting the Facilitators Connect meetings monthly timing. For the rest of 2021, we are alternating the times of the meetings as follows:
1st Thursday of the month - alternative odd/even month timings:
Odd Months: November @ 12:30 pm ET time (GMT-04)
Even Months: December @ 8 pm ET time (GMT-05)
We are alternating the meeting times for odd and even months - to create a consistent schedule, and also, allow for more and easier participation from non-north-American locations (ET).
