Member Stories

Sharing member stories is a powerful part of honoring our community’s history and building a more just and joyous future together. Past stories have featured members working in a variety of fields such as social work, community organizing, and handicrafts.

Interested in sharing your Design Justice story? Are you inspired by another member’s practice of the Design Justice Principles? We shape the storytelling process around what works best for you and will only share what/how/where you consent for us to share. As our Network grows globally, we’re particularly interested in elevating stories from new and international members!

The Care Pod Team recently shared their event series schedule, two sessions (a Care Circle and Practice Space) for each of the four themes shown here: 1) communicating through conflict, 2) creating care ecosystems and care teams, 3) healing money wounds, and 4) connecting with nature and our inner ecologies.

DJN’s Organizing Team

DJN’s Steering Committee and contractors manage fundamental operations for the Network and support member-led experiences through a variety of initiatives. You can learn more about DJN”s structure on our website.

Theme-Weaving. Facilitated by the organizing team and guided by member contributions, Theme-Weaving anchors and inspires programming for the year, directly informs the use of Network resources and frames connections between DJN’s principles and practices through the year.
Digital Community Project. Recently announced, the Digital Community Project trials a new member system with Mighty Networks, and better defines our digital community and how to navigate it.
Upcoming Seasonal Pauses. Our team schedules periodic pauses in organizing work for a week or so every few months, with our final pause of the year around two weeks long. Our team’s next Seasonal Pause is September 30th 2023 - October 8th 2023. The final Seasonal Pause is December 16th 2023 - January 7th 2024.
