July 2021, Design Justice Newsletter
Dear DJN Members, Signatories, and Friends,
The Design Justice Network Steering Committee (and staff) have been busy over the last year working with Corina Fadel on our mission, vision and strategic intentions process. Through this process we have found the need and space for additional network support. We are extremely excited to introduce you all to Taylor Simone, who joins Victoria Barnett in the role of International Network Coordinator! To read more about Taylor, please visit our Staff page.
We are also excited to open up this visioning process with the network. We’ve scheduled some initial sessions with DJN facilitators/members next week to get feedback and ideas and a report back on these will be shared! We are not hosting the monthly Facilitators Connect meeting this month in order to better engage in the mission, vision and strategic intentions process; read more below.
Finally as we continue moving through this summer energy, our second care session for DJN members is featuring Yves B. Golden with a healing sound bath on Wednesday, August 4th at 6pm EDT (registration required). This experience broadens the definition of sound healing and has been uniquely created with our members' evolving dreams and desires for care as the site for inspiration.
Here is a quick link to the latest (July 10, 2021) Welcome to the DJN Session recording.
Thank you, as always, for everything you are doing to live and advocate for design justice in your lives, communities, and the world.
Victoria Barnett and Taylor Simone, International Network Coordinators, Design Justice Network, with much support from the newly forming DJN Communications team!

Facilitators connect, nodes & working groups
We are not hosting the regular monthly Facilitators Connect meeting this month in order to better engage in the mission, vision and strategic intentions process; the next meeting will resume in September (first Thursday, at 12:30pm ET).
The Design Justice Principles at Work working group has formed sub-groups which focus on different areas: zine creation, assessment and workshops. You can contact them at designjustice.atwork@gmail.com to get involved and learn more.
All of our current nodes and working groups are listed on our website. If you’re thinking of starting your own, learn more about how to organize a local node and read our local nodes zine that was created to support and give guidance to local nodes. (much of it applies also to Working Groups)
We are excited to share that we have formed a Communication’s Working Group that will better support the network in promoting events, generating writing and creating engaging social media content. If you are interested in joining this working group for the role of social media coordinator or content writer, follow this link for more information.
