Announcement: New Staff Member & Website Tool

The Network’s New Communications Specialist

Dear DJN Members, Signatories, and Friends,

I’m so grateful and excited to introduce myself, Rene Joy, to the Design Justice Network as the newest member to join Taylor Simone and Victoria Barnett as DJN staff. An eclectic practitioner of many arts as acts of resistance and transformation, I’m eager to elevate this community’s powerful mission and amazing initiatives with my skills as a storyteller in this new role as the Network Communications Specialist.

My practice as a trauma-informed advocate for justice is deeply aligned with the Design Justice Principles. For more insight into how I honor the power of story in community organizing, check out my most recent work as a community care coordinator and draft writer with Code for America’s volunteer led ReVisioning Recommendation.

I’ll take the lead on promoting Network working groups and nodes, events and activities, developing the monthly newsletter, and managing DJN social media accounts. I’m also supporting the Communications Working Group and Steering Committee’s development of comms infrastructure and strategy. Say hello on Slack or email to connect!

In gratitude,
Rene Joy (She/They), Communications Specialist
